I'm the opposite. I watch older shows and I love them for the rarity value. I'm like "Wow this could never be made today" and it feels like... I dunno something out of time.

What it does make me worry about is whats going to happen in 50 years? What shit do we consider to be perfectly rational and beyond question today that will be wildly out of place in the future?

But then there's also a degree of comfort in that. The future, if it remembers any of us at all, will remember none of us as good people, not even the people who take such overwhelming pride in how much better they are than me. They, too, will be considered monstrous by the standard of future people. Except, I suppose, future people like me who, don't give a fuck. People like me in the future will look the most kindly on the people who hate me today.

See, I plan on adapting my perspectives, opinions, and values as times change and we come to new depths of understanding about certain things. So I'm not overly worried about being seen as a shitty person by my theoretical grandchildren.

I mean, sure, maybe the people of 150, 200, 300 years from now will think the people of today, including me, were awful. But that's not something I worry about either, as there's not much I can do about that which I'm not already doing (see paragraph one), and I won't be around to be affected by those people's ideas of me anyway.
