I recently started rewatching some of Smallville (so, not even a super old show), and in the first episode, Clark finds Lana in the graveyard talking to her parents' graves, and she pretends her father is asking Clark questions. First, her "dad" asks Clark if he's having girlfriend troubles. Then her "dad" asks Clark if he's having boyfriend troubles. And for like 1.5 seconds I was like, "Way to go, show! You were ahead of your time!" But then Lana laughs and says her dad has a "twisted" sense of humor.

I was just like, WTF? Did the show seriously just call it "twisted" that a guy could conceivably be having boyfriend troubles? Yes, yes it did.

I mean, I'm sure there are plenty of way worse examples, but I was genuinely startled by it, because that wasn't even very long ago, and yet by modern standards it's like, "How did you guys think that line was cool"?
