Driving. The mechanics aren't a problem, but I don't understand how anyone can remember and follow all the road rules like which lane to be in and when.

I guess it depends on what country you're in, but honestly, I'm not good at rote memorization and I don't find it a problem. Most road laws are just common sense, really.

nayrt but this. Outside of big city driving, where you have six lanes and have to merge between heavy traffic and constantly have to be on the lookout for what lane to be in to bring you where you want to go (I can't do that shit, I sold my car as soon as I moved to my city, where public transportation is awesome)... normal driving traffic laws are basically common sense.

Theoretically, I know the rules of the road, and how to apply them. But the actual skill of driving evades me.

I got 100% on my written tests, failed the driving tests even with 5 years of practice.

If it makes you feel better, neither can anyone else these days, apparently.

Driving is very complicated.

And we do ourselves no favors by pretending otherwise. There is a lot to keep track of and a lot of things only come through practice and experience.
