Re: What are some of the worst castings you've seen?

Oh, I'm going to catch shit for this, but either Chris Evans was miscast or all the other Avengers were miscast in the MCU. He's just way too young to be the Captain America for that group of Avengers. And yeah, ScarJo and Hemsworth are younger, but they don't seem as green. Hemsworth, at least, has the righteous anger down. When Evans tries it, it just comes off as pissy. Although to be fair, I don't know if that's on Evans or if that's just how he's being directed.

Too young? He is mid 20s in the movie. How is that too young?

Because one half of the Avengers are twice his age and the other half convincingly act like they are? Cap's supposed to be the physically (as opposed to chronologically) about the same age as the rest of team and emotionally more mature than most of them. Instead he's physically younger than most of them and emotionally less mature than everyone except Iron Man. So, either you keep Chris Evans and recast everyone else, direct Chris to act like more of a leader and hope he can pull it off, or recast him.

Really? Black Widow and Hawkeye act more mature but that is because they have pretty one dimensional personalities of "stoic". Bruce acts more mature because he is much older and has had a hard life.

But I would never say that Thor acts more mature. He acts like a college frat boy most of the time. Which makes sense because he is pretty young in Asgard terms (in the first movie he was only just old enough to be crowned soon-to-be King).

And he also isn't supposed to be the same age? Bruce, Tony, and Clint are clearly supposed to be older. Natasha MIGHT be around the same age but I think she is supposed to be older as well. Thor is probably closest in age if you converted Asgard years to Earth years.

I don't really get where you got the impression that Captain America is supposed to be more emotionally and physically older than the rest of the Avengers. He is supposed to be a great leader but that has little do with age. He is still a young guy thrown into a war (several of them) and then a completely alien world that required him to stand up and try to lead a random group of people that may or may not get along.

I don't really see Cap as acting like he's less emotionally immature than his teammates?

He 'died' at age 25 (comics) or 27 (movies), and when he woke up in the 'future', to him everything he'd gone through (including a war he didn't know was over at first), had happened about two weeks ago. What did he do in any movie that made him seem emotionally immature?

He seemed depressed and cut off in Avengers (especially evident in the deleted scenes), and while not as isolated in WS, he's still pretty much just doing team/work stuff, and not socializing much beyond work 'friends' and his ninety-something long-lost love.

There are a few but the most recent for me is Emma Watson as Belle. She can't really sing and that's crucial for a musical. I was fine with the casting when I thought it was going to be a reimagining like Maleficent. She also had a lot demands, like not wearing corsets, and making random changes to Belle's character.
