Please explain how Alex's character is "too old" to be paired with David's character, when David's character is presumably not "too old" to be paired with Billie's character.

Personally, I don't have a problem with either age difference, because my favorite NuWho companions (and favorite ones to ship with Ten) are played by Freema Agyeman (29), Catherine Tate (40) and LIS FUCKING SLADEN, QUEEN OF FUCKING HAWTNESS (60 FUCKING YEARS OLD, AND STILL FUCKING HAWT).

And for the record, I'm a 33-year-old straight guy.

You absolutely crack me up, but you are also completely right. The idea that a 1000 year old + alien would want to get it on with human women barely into their adulthood is not only creepy, but totally bizarre. Plus, I just don't think women are truly sexy until they've made it into at least their late 20s. River was hot as hell.

I don't mind the Doctor having romantic relationships with a broad age spectrum of human women, if only because his emotional age has always been frozen at roughly around 12.

But, yes, I prefer younger-looking Doctor/older companion ships, because they do seem more equal.
