Huh, I actually never thought of it that way. I guess it's because people automatically assume guys are more self-centered than women, so if he sacrifices himself for her, it means that much more. Whereas women are considered naturally kind and much more willing to sacrifice, so if she does, she's just giving in to her domesticity.
Eh.
I honestly hated Sheris in Scryed because no matter how many battles she fought and titles she held, at the end of the day she just whined over how she couldn't wait to stop existing just to slightly benefit the jerky main character guy. And then she did. So... good riddance?
I guess it's a lose-lose situation.
I mean, isn't it harder to live for someone than to die for them? Or is that just as bad?
