YES. In my case, stuff like that bugs me because it so often feels a lot more like showing off than it does a sign of true love. If a guy does buy something nice and fancy for his girlfriend/wife, it should be because he knows she'll genuinely love it, and not because, "I want to show off how rich I am!" And if that's all they buy their significant other, I have to think those sorts of gifts will lose their luster after a while, 'cause there's no real thought or originality being put into it anymore.
