I would check in with this Anon LJ comm every once in a while, even after my show ended and it was mostly abandoned. Sometimes there would be new comments, mostly nonsense, but I would always get excited when I'd see a new comment posted.

The truth is, though, I just liked re-reading the old posts and arguments and wank.

I just found out today that the anon comm for my old fandom has been deleted. I doubt it's ever coming back, and that makes me very sad. I guess this means the party really is over.

S!B: I've been involved in several fandoms and I've always had the reputation for being a level-headed, non-wanky sort of fan. My fellow fans in this fandom would be shocked to find out that I was a regular commenter in this comm. Now that it's gone, I can't share my sadness about its passing with anyone in my fandom circle.

Internet ephemera like this always makes me sad. It's even happening here on F!S - I've looked at old archives and half the images are no longer there because the hosting site(s) shut down or went pay-for-play.

Yeah, one of the biggest forums for my first big fandom pre-dated LJ, but was abandoned and the hosting domain eventually bought by a company affiliated with the show creators. And recently I found that one of my favorite fanfic authors deleted her Ao3 and ff.net accounts. It sucks.

Yeah, I get this to a degree. It was sad to see my first real fandom site to be deleted on LJ. I wasn't able to find the same kind of experience on Tumblr, even when it's the same fandom and pairing, so I kinda let that one go. I still miss it :(

I hate it when that happens. You can save fanfic or an LJ post, but a community is gone forever.

I've been noticing that a lot of people have been, needlessly, in my opinion, deleting old comms and fics! Idk why they can't be left alone. It makes me sad too.

Feel the same way OP. My fandom is alive and well but the posts in my favourite community are rare these days. I wasn't even a part of it until the tail off but I still enjoy reading back.
