Disney XD is really awful with this. When was the last time we had a new Ducktales episode?

This one might not quite be DXD's doing. Some tweets from Co-Producer Frank Angones:

I've really disliked the whole one-two, skip a few, thing TV shows have going on now. With 500+ channels and time-shifting, TV is still acting like it's 1958 with only three channels.

NAYRT I actually think that's a newer thing, but maybe it's just me. It makes it REALLY hard to stay into shows.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-12 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, there are so many shows I've simply stopped watching because of that. By the time the shows picked up again, I had already lost interest or found something new to watch.

One of my shows seems to be doing that post-mid season finale. It's a good thing I'm on the subreddit for it; otherwise I might forget about it.

Honestly, at this point I wish they'd just had a longer break and come back in February.

And then there’s whatever the hell Steven Universe is doing . . .

(Anonymous) 2018-01-12 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate them because they get me confused. I can't even count how many times I've thought that a show was like 7 seasons in already, but then realised that it hadn't even finished season 3 yet.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. Sorry but gonna pull a back in my day. When I was a kid the winter break was two weeks. A few days before Christmas and a few days after New Years. That way the stations could get in all the holiday programing and then all the shows would pick back up. The excuse I hear is that shows cost more to make now but not really with inflation. We have more commercials and less content. It makes me love Netflix and Amazon Prime even more.

I feel like it's usually a decision by networks, not by the people actually making the show

(Anonymous) 2018-01-12 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
... waaait. I could have sworn I wrote this exact comment in the GC section some time ago.
(If that's the case: kudos for making it into an actual secret and a nice one at that!)

;)

I think it can be helpful. It allows TV shows to course correct if something they are doing is not enjoyed by the viewers.

I love that picture.

faking it took a "mid season break" that ended up lasting a whole damn year and killing the show's momentum stone dead >:(

I hate this trend so much.

Also, this is a very pretty secret.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-13 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, it makes total sense to me why they do take a break, but I just hate how much of a production networks make out of it now. "Midseason finale!" "Winter premiere!" etc. as opposed to just having a hiatus over the holidays as everyone knows to expect.
