For real life people I know? Probably 99% of the books I've ever read. If I had to pick out some for RL and online, I'd say most of the Robert Cormier books I've read.

One I've been thinking of recently is Shade's Children by Garth Nix. That was such a horrifying book that most people seem to have never heard of.

Briefly reading Wiki, that sounds pretty interesting.

I have not read it since high school but I think it was my first taste of dark scifi!

I was terrified by that book in high school. I don't remember the details anymore but I remember all of Garth Nix's stuff being pretty terrifying/horrifying depending on the book

Oooo, horrifying? Dark scifi? Suddenly interested. Do you have any other recs of that genre?

Hermux Tantamoq or Mistmantle.

Though i have found fans of the former, they're usually in France. Must've been more popular over there by far.

Cirque Du Freak is a little more of a crapshoot, but I've never come across anyone else who's read Zom-B, which is leagues better.

I don't know IRL people who've read most of the books I've read. My friends' and my tastes have diverged quite strongly over the years, so I can't say I've read most of the books they've read either.

Favorites are probably A Face Like Glass, by Frances Hardinge, and Philip Reeve's Railhead duology.

The Secret Country trilogy by Pamela Dean. I found them absolutely incredible but I can readily recognize that you have to have really specific taste in literature to enjoy them.

The only book I can think of that I read that no one else seems to have even heard of was not my favorite, it was a book I really hated.

The Fionavar Tapestry. It's actually 3 books, but I read it as the omnibus edition.

I know she has a huge reading audience, but I never seem to meet them, so - most of C J Cherryh's stuff, but especially Downbelow Station, which is my very favorite.

Special Topics In Calamity Physics, and Night Film, both by Marisha Pessl.

And The Children's Book by AS Byatt.

Logically, I know that Special Topics and The Children's Book were both quite successful, so a lot of people must've read them, but they're not books I ever see people talking about.

None of my friends have ever read The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery and it's one of my favorite books.

*high fives you* It's a good book, but I'm a fan of L.M. Montgomery in general. The Blue Castle is one of my favorites because of all the beautiful description of the landscape - one of Montgomery's strengths in general - but also because Valancy has a bit more snap to her than most of her heroines. Especially after she rebels!

IRL? Most of them. Surrounded by normies who would rather talk about football and beer than books or games.

Online? The Kate Kane series by Alexis Hall, Pretty obscure. Lesbian vampire noir. look it up guys. sex scenes are a little flowery, but otherwise they're damn good.

Either that or the Vattas War series by Elizabeth Moon, which I loved immensely, but only found out about it because someone here made a secret about it, so it's obviously not "No-one" has read it. Good shout, btw.

Just a few random science fiction series including those started by 'The Many-Coloured Land' by Julian May and 'The Broken God' by David Zindell.
