The second Blade Runner movie. I wasn't expecting much, but holy crap, it was so much *worse* than I expected. Boring as fuck, scenes that had no point, and so much fucking t&a that was equally pointless. And it's the fucking future, by like - a couple hundred years. Can we please - *please* - have a 'red light' district with fucking male sex workers, too? GAH.

Star Wars The Last Jedi

Mostly because I didn't have anything else I was super excited about but it did end up disappointing me.

Several horror movies. Mostly Don't Breathe and The Void.

It. Was one of my favourite books growing up and I spent all summer being hyped for the movie and... eh. There were parts of it I really enjoyed, but as a whole it just felt really flat and hollow to me.

I'm a big Taylor Swift fan, but I admit, Reputation was a bit disappointing for me, if only because ultra-modern EDM/dubstep/hip-hop inspired pop music is just very, very not my thing. I think Reputation is a strong album, but I became a TS fan after listening to Red; that's the kind of melodic, heartfelt lyricism that I'm into. I like plenty of the songs off of Reputation and 1989, but on their own those albums wouldn't have made me the TS fan I am.

I haven't finished watching it yet, but so far, S2 of Dirk Gently is disappointing in two ways. Firstly, it's disappointing in that it's just...kind of bad? I mean, part of the show's shtick is that it's unapologetically strange as fuck. But while S1 did a good job of mostly feeling strange and zany without feeling full-on stupid, a lot of S2 just feels stupid. The show being canceled was also a big disappointment. Because I still really love the characters and would've liked more seasons, regardless of whether the show continued to be a bit stupid or not.

the fact that Chance (the hulu show Hugh Laurie starred in) had no fan fiction at all apart from one my bestie wrote and no page on tv tropes.

Valerian

It was pretty as hell (like I expected it to be) but the script was... so much worse than I anticipated

Confirming the rumors about Louis CK. He's still one of my favorite comedians, but I'd never want to be in a room with him unless there were 10 other witnesses with zero tolerance for creepy behavior. And I say that even though I don't believe he does that gross shit in front of other people anymore.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - because I really enjoyed the first movie as a fluffy popcorn fic and was hoping for more of the same, but IMO it wasn't as well executed for many reasons.

Wonder Woman - This was more about the hype than the actual film itself. I was expecting to be blown away and I just wasn't. It was an okay movie, but didn't knock my socks off. I'm glad it did well in the box office, though.

Joss Whedon cheating on his wife (and explaining his behavior to her in a pretty cringey way) was definitely disappointing to me. I don't buy the "he's a sexual predator" narrative some people constructed out of his Ex's account of things. Until someone comes forward and describes his behavior towards them as sexually predatory, I'm not going to presume it was. But cheating on your wife, for years, with people you work with and who most likely have less professional power than you do, is just not good behavior, no matter how you slice it. At best, it's stupid, careless, and deeply selfish.

I thought better of him.
