Out of curiosity, what's your ideal living situation?

Married with kids and one stay-at-home parent?
Married DINK? Married SINK?
Single with kids? Single with no kids? Single with 14 cats?
Polyamorous household?
Large household with extended family like parents and grandparents?
Not married but comfortable roommates for life?
Not married but comfortable roommates for life with 14 cats?

Living by myself with a dog in a two bedroom house with a washer/dryer in a town I like. But I can't afford that. :P

Change the dog to my cats and this! I just want to do laundry without going down four floors and having to pay extra...

I'd do polyamorous household or comfortable roommates + a few cats.

Currently living alone with 2 cats.

Well I already have a grown up kid so now my ideal situation would be living with a partner and probably some pets, in a small house.

But even though I get sick of being alone I can't complain about my living situation - my own small apartment and no roommates.

single, no kids

my own three bedroom house (not fucking renting for eternity), with one room for guests and one turned into a decent man cave

Living it already, yay! Single, no kids, a couple of cats, owning my place.

No kids, that much I know. Dating or married. Honestly I don't care that much about marriage, but my family does, and if he or she cares then I'm fine with getting married. Also 4-6 cats and dogs sounds about right.

Married with two dogs and a cat, in one spacious house on a large piece of land with other houses and small cottages on it for family and guests. So we can be close, but everyone's got their own space and privacy.

Married with kids and pets, one spouse is either part-time or a SAH parent, depending on kids' ages and such.

My current one is pretty damn nice. Just me, no significant others, roommates, kids or pets.

If someday I get into a serious relationship, then just me and the SO. Maaaaaybe pets someday, but no more than like, two cats. Definitely no kids.

I've always joked that any future partner would have to be fine with us living separately and honestly, that would be ideal, but I don't know that anyone would go for that. So I'd live with them, but we'd have to have a big enough place that we could each have our own space.

Your ideal hypothetical relationship and living Smithson is mine as well, and I'm surprised but also comforted knowing there're other people who feel that way. I've been in... a thing with someone for years now but even if conditions were ideal I don't think I can do the living together and around each other all the time relationship shtick. We kind of come and go in each other's lives and if I could get someone to be exclusive with me like that it'd be great.

Eventually I'd like to be in your current living situation, but my family all help each other presently so we're all together which is good too. They're the most important people to me so I'd rather live with them than anyone else. Rooming in college was awkward.

Just me in a smallish house (2 or 3 bedrooms) with a cat or three of my own, and maybe foster kittens. Bookshelves on every inch of wall, except in whatever space I was using for the kittens, because books don't sanitize well. Decent-sized, well-laid out kitchen and enough room to have friends over.

Single with roommate(s?) a kid or two and a pet. We can interchange roomie for spouse but I don't think that will be possible as I am right now.

Married with enough money to support my husband being a househusband and with a spare room to have friends over from time to time. No kids and a small dog.

I currently live with my best friend in a nice place that I own, and with a cat it'd be perfect. But she's the marrying type so this arrangement won't last. Wish I had someone else I'm equally comfortable with who's as averse to marriage as I am.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-14 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Ideal living situation would be to have two husbands, one of whom has a job that pays a lot of money, and the other is a house husband/stay-at-home-dad (I don't know 100% if I want to give birth but if not, I don't think I'd mind adopting). Then I'd have all the benefits of a larger household income and the opportunity to be a mom, but still be free to carry on with my stimulating but time-consuming and low-paying career.

Also both dudes would be really hot.

A more realistic ideal would be either DINK or married with kids but he works from home.

Single with adult kid who can mostly fend for themselves (current situation).

IDEAL would be single living alone with adult kid living nearby. I like my alone time. I would despise any sort of roommate.

As many cats as i can afford.

I'd say, married DINK. (Or at this point, married and semi-retired, if we're talking about #Goals.) But... I guess I wouldn't be opposed to having a kid. If it happened, I mean.

Living with my sibling is working fine for me. I used to have an SO who was also close to her and we had fun all living together...fuck, that was nice, but I'll probably never have that again.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-15 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Basically the situation I'm in now, Married DINK. Although I would love to not have to work. We own a house and eventually we'll get more cats after I had to put my last kitty to sleep last year. Right now it's nice not having the responsibility of pet ownership.
