Out of curiosity, what's your ideal living situation?

Married with kids and one stay-at-home parent?
Married DINK? Married SINK?
Single with kids? Single with no kids? Single with 14 cats?

Large household with extended family like parents and grandparents?

Well I already have a grown up kid so now my ideal situation would be living with a partner and probably some pets, in a small house.

No kids, that much I know. Dating or married. Honestly I don't care that much about marriage, but my family does, and if he or she cares then I'm fine with getting married. Also 4-6 cats and dogs sounds about right.

Married with two dogs and a cat, in one spacious house on a large piece of land with other houses and small cottages on it for family and guests. So we can be close, but everyone's got their own space and privacy.

My current one is pretty damn nice. Just me, no significant others, roommates, kids or pets.

If someday I get into a serious relationship, then just me and the SO. Maaaaaybe pets someday, but no more than like, two cats. Definitely no kids.

I've always joked that any future partner would have to be fine with us living separately and honestly, that would be ideal, but I don't know that anyone would go for that. So I'd live with them, but we'd have to have a big enough place that we could each have our own space.

Just me in a smallish house (2 or 3 bedrooms) with a cat or three of my own, and maybe foster kittens. Bookshelves on every inch of wall, except in whatever space I was using for the kittens, because books don't sanitize well. Decent-sized, well-laid out kitchen and enough room to have friends over.

So Last week I was unwell.

Tuesday I went home early from work.
Wednesday I called in sick. Boss sounded pissed off.
Thursday I went into work even though I was feeling like hell, but wound up leaving early again. This also pissed the boss off, because if I'm ill he'd rather I either come in and work a full day or just not come in at all, than have me come in sick and only work half a day.
So, feeling like hell, I called in sick on friday.

Btw, there is no sick pay. If I'm off sick I get fuck all which I can live with, to be honest. The real concern is being unreliable. I also have a health issue that makes it so I seem to catch a lot of bugs. like last year my sick record ended up being about 12 days, which is not great since 8 days is supposed to be the maximum. I'm not permanent staff, tho, and I'm not shy about talking about the health issue, so everyone knows I keep getting sick, so that's why I got away with it I think.

Anyway Sunday comes around and I'm feeling better. Throat still a touch sore, still sneezing, still run down, but if I'd been asked to go in this morning I thing I could have managed it, although I don't know how I would have faired, since I did need to take 2 naps today.

My dilemma. Tomorrow. If I'm feeling too ill to go in, I'm stopping off again - Obviously - But I doubt that'll be the case. If I'm 100% better, I'm going in to work - Obviously - But I doubt that'll be the case, so what do I do if I'm feeling like I am today? passable in the morning, but still kinda run down. Do I risk going in and flagging half way through the day, thus pissing off my boss - and missing out on another day in bed, which I won't lie, I would really like because I am ill but also kinda lazy at the best of times - Or do I run the risk of looking unreliable, err on the side of caution and take another day off?

What should I do? What would you do?

How do I find these? I see collections on archiveofourown for events, but I don't know where to find them. Is there a masterlist of active fandom fic events somewhere? Everything feels so much more difficult to navigiate than back in the days of LJ/DW.... *grumbles, polishes zimmer frame*

I used to agree with my family about political issues, but ever since college I’ve disagreed with them more and more (inside my head), sometimes even catching myself thinking “holy crap, they’re so ignorant”. It’s not a good feeling, but I suppose I’m not the first young adult this has happened to. I’m sure I’ll get over it; it’s not like I’ve ever agreed with them on anything else, anyway, and it’s not like they talk about it all the time or force me to participate, so it’s easy to just hum noncommittally while staring at my phone. I think it’s just unsettling because it’s new.

I want to try and hit an average of at least 10,000 steps a day this year, so I’m gonna go walk for a couple miles before bed, but I really wanna just grow a taproot out of my ass. My legs hurt after standing at work all day. I went to the doctor earlier this week for a non weight related reason, but I’m about 5 pounds away from clinical obesity, and my weight has been creeping up for years.

But walking is just about the only exercise I don’t hate except for swimming and horseback riding, and I’m too poor and too far from any place that offers riding, and it’s too cold to swim without a wetsuit. Oh well, at least I’ll sleep well when I get back.
