I hate them because I can't block them from my followed tags on Tumblr. No I don't care about your 100 'Tony Stark is your dad' imagines. :

I tumblr savior the heck out of "anakin skywalker imagine" and other related tags so I can ignore them.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Not imagines specifically, but I ended up leaving Tumblr in boredom and annoyance because the same posts just kept showing up over and over on my timeline because everybody liked and reblogged them every fucking time they appeared.

Like okay, the LGBT Hogwarts thing was kind of nifty the first time I read it, but after I'd had to scroll past it seven or eight times in one day (and does nobody know how to use cuts?) I was over it.

But there's no way to keep something from showing up again and again, without blocking tags, and a lot of the time stuff like that is just reblogged without tagging.

The signal-to-noise ratio eventually got to be too much for me, so I quit.

Nah, it translates to "I'm not busting my ass for a handful of comments."

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
This again?

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I will always bring this up when writers get called lazy. #NOTSORRY

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I agree that calling writers lazy is silly

i also don't really understand the mindset that comments are the only form of feedback that matters and that readers are obligated to give it

buncha different things that seem silly

Imagine bloggers aren't writers.

I don't really see why it matters, tbh, except insofar as it's spammy or untagged

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
It is super spammy and badly tagged, likely as not. My ship tags are crawling with these posts on any given day.

Idk they're like, mildly annoying at best to me. But then I don't really frequent fandom tags all that much and just stick to the blogs I follow so I barely see them.

I'd get how it'd be irritating if your fandom tag was full of nothing but those kinds of blogs though.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I find them annoying too and I know people have different tastes and enjoy different things, but at least with various other fandom things that aren't for me (like the ask-a-character-blogs) I at least get what people get out if them... with the "imagine..." blogs I don't. Fanfic ideas maybe? No idea.
I guess I would mind them less if some of them weren't clogging the tags for various of my small-ish fandoms (together with fics that aren't under a cut yay -.-).

It seems like self-insert musings to me more than it does 'half-assed fanfic' The ones I've seen, anyway.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
My sarcastic favorites are the ones that come with a Polyvore collage. Sweet little innocent things thinking they'll come home from the hospital after carrying Dean and Sam's twin babies (somehow one is Sam's and one is Dean's after a threesome) wearing size 00 skinny jeans and 4 inch stilettos with a size xs white top like your boobs aren't going to be engorged and leaking.

The 2 father twin thing is more realistic, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
lol this is so specific

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
It popped up on tumblr recently. I don't even watch the show and I'm not 13 so I don't know tumblr came to the conclusion that I would be interested in that. Damn if I didn't click on the tag for shits and giggles, but instead I got horror and confusion.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I swear I saw this on an episode of Maury, though the lady wasn't knocked up by Sam and Dean (obviously) and the weight loss wasn't that dramatic.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the imagine stuff pisses me off too. It's just a way for lazy people to get notes. Write the fic already.

I was about to say the same thing. I'm on tumblr too. I don't follow fandom tags but I follow some people in the bigger fandoms.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
It's like writing a long form summary of a fic. Say someone had the first Harry Potter story in mind, but they didn't want to write a novel, they instead go "imagine if there was a 11 years old boy who found out he's a wizard, imagine if there's a school just for wizards, imagine if he's the savior of the world, imagine if he fights a troll..." etc. I don't know why people start sentences with imagine if, but the whole post will usually be a list of ideas and plot points all starting with that.

I personally think starting sentences with imagine if is stupid, but plot summaries are ok. Not everyone had time to write fic, and not everyone is a writer. Sometimes the ideas aren't even detailed enough to write an actual fic, there's just some neat ideas. And of course, fandom being fandom, there's also some absolutely stupid ideas that get popular, or old cliches getting recycled over and over again. There's still some genuinely interesting ideas in there, small gems that I never would have seen otherwise because most people who share their ideas via list form never intended to turn it into a full fic in the first place.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Had to add but can't edit cause anon lol: there's also really short ones that just go "imagine if Tony Stark is your lover", the end. Or "imagine if Severus Snape fucked Dean Winchester on a table", the end. Now those I can understand getting annoyed over.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-16 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I wish fandom had a way for people to post those kinds of things as prompts in hopes of having them expanded into a full fic.

Ah ha! Thank you!
I have seen something similar, then. And ...wow, they really don't bother me at all. Like you say - not everyone is a writer, or has the time, and i think they're fun, if the ideas are new and interesting.

In fact, i read something similar that actually got me thinking about a fic to write, so.....

I am firmly on the 'they're fun' side. :)
