Harry Potter. The concept sounded stupid to me. (This was just before the books started gaining traction, so I'd never heard of them before.)

I'm the biggest Harry Potter dork ever now.

Yeah, when the books first got massively popular, I was the stubborn, contrary little kid who insisted they sounded dumb and I wasn't interested. Then I read the first couple pages of book one while standing in a bookstore, and something just clicked in my brain and suddenly I was obsessed.

Same! I was apparently quite the hipster at age ten, but then my sister left the first book lying around and I read the first few pages of the Halloween chapter... and then finished it. And then had to start again at the beginning.
