Re: What media was recommended to you, that you ended up hating?

I was recommended The Host (the South Korean monster movie) by a friend, and also by the internet (reviews of it are overwhelmingly positive), and I ended up hating it. Like, I can't even start on what didn't work for me. Nothing. The answer is nothing. Nothing about it worked for me. Everything was bad.

Basically, I think maybe I just loathe that particular director's style/vision/narrative sensibilities, because I also hated Okja, which was directed by him as well.

I was okay wth the Host, but Okja got all this praise and worship and I was like, "Yeah okay I guess?"

I mean, the best part about for me was Stephen Yeun and the guy from Little Miss Sunshine and they were in it for like a collective twenty minutes?

The trailers and all the hype just made it sound like it was this amazing adventure and I just feel really let down and preached to. And the ending, wtf. Like... okay yay you paid to not have Okja killed and rescue ONE fucking baby... pig-thing, while hundreds still got slaughtered? Not really the heartwarming message I think you were trying to convey there.
