Wait, I thought Vince was involved with the original X-Files run to the end as a writer/producer?

Also, when the reboot happened, he really wanted to be part of it, but his involvement with "Better Call Saul" prevented that from happening. I know it's only a 13-episode season, but based on the amount of prep work and writing he does for it, it's basically a year-round job for him.

That is to say: I reeeaaaaallly doubt this is true.

That said, if some years down the road (like after Chris Carter is dead and buried) he admitted to this being his thought process, it wouldn't entirely surprise me, either.

Vince strikes me as a genuinely good guy and career-wise he's very loyal to people he's worked with. He's repeatedly said that he owes his career to Chris and the X-Files.
