I didn't watch Guardians 2 yet but the truth is there are a lot of musical choices in the first movie that don't do much for me. I guess it's "70s nostalgia" but I really have no nostalgia for the fucking Piña Colada Song. (Yes I know that is not the actual title.) But at least no one quoted the lyrics.

I liked the movie overall but I somewhat resented paying money to hear that song.

have always hated that song because the lyrics aren't romantic or funny, they're about two losers trying to cheat on each other and being okay with that when they both catch each other and that's just -

well its stupid. Catchy music, stupid lyrics and I can never forgive stupid lyrics. Worse yet is how so many people seem to think its a romantic song. Kind of like Sting's stalker song.

Assuming we're talking about Every Breath You Take, the difference is that Sting knows that's a stalker song and is generally appalled when other people think it's romantic.
