Re: What non-original character added to a show made the show WAY better for you?
Toph quickly became one of my favorite characters on A:tLA because she's 10 lbs. of awesome in a 5 lb. bag.
In Body of Proof, after Peter was killed in the S2 finale, they brought in a guy called Tommy to be Megan's partner/love interest. Despite never having been mentioned before by anyone, he was supposed to have had a long romantic history with her, with a whole lot of "As you know, you two have a complicated past and working together must be super awkward," and "Don't let the fact that we totally used to be in love and split on bad terms blind you to the fact that I'm right about this case." On top of that, he was a complete asshole, and he and Megan fought pretty much nonstop until the last three minutes of the series finale, where, after saving her from his evil police chief boss who also murdered her father thirty years before, Megan's all like, "I know you've changed and I love you. Let's bone." It's no wonder the show only lasted one season after he joined the cast. 'Course, that last season sucked for other reasons too, but he certainly didn't help.

She had some of the best episodes, but IMO the worst episodes were "lets all gaslight Seven of Nine."
