I loved the book but I don't think I've actually seen the movie. I keep meaning to and your secret convinces me I should! Because I feel the same way - as much as I liked the series, it IS too religious for me as an adult. Dawn Treader is too much a series of vignettes to make a good film, so trimming it down makes more sense and I don't mind.

I love the movie too. I love the books and I think they're fun so I'm not going to say it's better. But I think it worked well in the movie medium. I liked the Eustace/Reepicheep friendship, and I thought the green mist was a pretty good idea.

I was really annoyed with the fact that they changed so many things in the plot from the book (I think the book had one of the more exciting plots of the series).

I loved all three movies more than the books... Prince Caspian was my favourite, but that was probably because I loved the dynamic between Peter and Caspian. Dawn Threader was so much better than I expected, in fact, I'm in the mood to rewatch it now!

Really? I thought Peter trying to man-up Caspian brought the whole film down and made it the weakest adaptation.

The BBC version stuck to the original, so there is a version for that. I think there is room for both. The Dawn Treader's allegory of being comparable to a religious life can be really difficult to pull off in movie format.

Mostly I get annoyed by the fact they rearranged events and cut out Bern's importance to the islands.

Maybe I love Narnia too much to really complain about any versions. But I want the Horse and His Boy, darn it!

I think the only thing that bugged me with the Dawn Treader movie was the "find the item!"-type plot addition, but the actual execution of several plot elements--like Eustace's character development/time as a dragon, the green mist, Reepicheep in general, Edmund and Lucy's personal struggles, etc, was SO well-done that I can forgive the weird points.

The movies were kinda forgettable TBH? :\

I really want to see the Silver Chair, though.

Just couldn't deal with the evil green mist, man.

I think the first two Narnia movies were pretty good, but Dawn Treader went off the rails for me. But then again, it was my favorite book so I might've had higher expectations for it.
