(mine will be below but I wanted to give other people a chance to ask. Because I know lots of people have this concern about fanfic)

Harry Potter

Would you read a fic about the Muggle Studies teacher being replaced with a muggleborn(while Charity Burbage goes into hiding after a threat on her life because of something she published) who teaches the students about things like scientific advancements and ways magic and science are similar?

It would depend a lot on the execution, but I'd be very leery. I would be concerned about it coming off like... the story was all about how awesome Muggles are and how awesome science is, you know? Not that there's anything wrong with that but I personally wouldn't care to read it if it was like that.

Actually its more about the idea that magic and science are similar. Its not gonna like bash magic and stuff. It isn't going to be like Medthods of Rationality.

fuck I'm not even much of a scientist and I love the magical world. I mean I'm probably going to include talking about history too. Because like...there's a lot to learn from history and the events of Harry Potter are similar enough to the events of things like Nazi Germany and stuff that lessons can be drawn.

So don't worry its not going to be a sermon on science.

Nayrt but this reminds me of an urban fantasy novel I read once where the mage characters reasoned that if advanced technology seemed to work by magic to people not in the know, then they could just use magic in ways that looked like super fancy/advanced technology and no one would know

also nayrt

what else would be the focus of the plot? adventure? mystery? romance? etc?

It sounds interesting! I'll admit if I were looking for genfic, this sounds nice, but on its own, I would need more than just that to keep me hooked (unless of course I enjoyed your writing, and this fic became a bit if a comfort fic lol).

but I would check it out :)

It kinda reminds me of that (short-lived?) trend in the Harry Potter fandom where people were throwing out all those ~imagines~ about the awesome and wacky shenanigans Muggleborn Hogwarts students would get up to and all those Muggle-in-jokes that the others wouldn't understand etc.
It was kinda annoying.

Also Harry Potter

I have a number (or at least one that I'm itching to write & post) of HP fics, but they all feature OCs. I know that is a particular audience, and I'm fine with that. But my question is...

would you read an OC/MC fic if the plot was intriguing enough?

If I'm 100% honest: no. If it was just a gen fic with an OC (or OC/OC, or even OC+MC friendship), absolutely I would, but as soon as you start shipping OCs with main characters I get too leery to continue. I have very, very, very seldom seen it done in a way where it didn't come off as author self-insert, even if the OC doesn't stray into Mary Sue territory. I don't know, it just almost never works.
