Re: What anime would you recommend...

Samurai Champloo

So based off a quick wiki & my own summation, in an AU Edo era Japan, a ronin, a vagrant/wily sword for hire, and a young girl (~15? ~16?) end up crossing paths, and both men end up helping the girl find a mysterious stranger she insists exists whom she calls "a samurai that smells like sunflowers".

I enjoyed the the story, music (incorporates hip hop/Nujabes sound), and animation. Storyline focuses on the historical plot. It gets violent, but not something awful. There is a good amount of sword play...it gets dark and fucked up at the end...but I don't know. Maybe someone else can explain it better?

It is not a long series (about 26 episodes?) but its progression takes its time. One friend recommended it to me while another found it slightly tedious. I enjoyed it. The characters were intriguing, the side plots and adventures drew me in as well. I was sad it was over.
