I fucking hate TVTropes. Especially with how they promo other people's shitty fic.

I used to be more active in a small fandom that had a small handful of good, well known fics. So naturally, when I looked on TV Tropes I checked out the fic section and... wtf. Most of them were fics I'd never heard of, and at least one or two were hilariously bad. I've never taken their fic recs seriously since.

OMG, yes to all of this.

My small fandom had a couple of great fics listed there, but then the jealousy of lesser known writers made them rec a lot of what turned out to be fairly mediocre/shitty fics. Recs don’t count if you’re the one reccing your own shit.

Since when do they promo anybody's fics? Anybody can make a rec and anybody can make a page for a fic.
