Overwatch is so shitty to its support mains.

Is it? Moira is overtuned, Zen has one of the best skills in the game and can do a shit ton of damage, Lucio is still strong, if not completely meta, and Ana was just given some of her old damage back. The first three get lots of good feedback in the game itself via medals, cards, and POTGs.

The only reason Mercy is being mucked with now is because they made her TOO good by adding rez as a cooldown skill + made her ult grossly overpowered. These "nerfs" are correcting a mistake- she's still the most consistent healer in the game and as long as you're not diving into enemy territory to rez a teammate, the channel is pretty much insignificant.

Right now, for me, the worst part about being a support main is that I'm expected to go Mercy if I'm the only healer, even though I'm more comfortable with literally any other healer in the game. Once she's no longer mandatory to satisfy the slaves to meta, the healers will be in a far better place than defense heroes are atm.

I honestly felt like Moira was one of their better balanced characters that they ever put out, mostly because the people who got really overzealous with her damage output would get cocky and instant crushed if they decided to run into the middle of the enemy team, which is what a lot of the Moira players did when she first came out. She also felt like a more difficult character to really get the hang of, but once you did she's pretty nifty.

Lucio is not meta in the slightest and hasn’t been for a while. Not to mention the ultimate drain change fucked him over hard. He’s only decent on KOTH now,

Ana hasn’t been meta since her OP days because she gets fucked hard by dive. And since dive is the most prominent composition, playing her might as well be throwing. Having some of her old damage means shit when Zen can do more.

That leaves Zen and Mercy. Currently, res deletes mistakes so having Mercy is mandatory. And other reasons I’m too lazy to type up as to why Mercy is mandatory (and to a lesser extent Zen is too) Plus, they heal through barriers unlike Lucio or Ana.

Moira is in that spot where people aren’t sure where she fits yet.

Anyone who thinks healers will be balanced after the Mercy nerfs are being overly optimistic. It’s just going to be Zen/Lucio again because dive (and mobility) is king. Mercy’s ult is meh outside of instant Rez, Ana is made useless in dive, and Moira is a risky pick. So Zen/Lucio all day every day

Medals, cards, and whatever are useless. Literally worthless info. Never take them seriously. Impact during fights matter. The ability to turn a fight in your team’s favor through defensive ults, rezzes, whatever are what matter. And the healers impacts in fights have been steadily decreasing. Outside of Mercy, supports have been getting nerfed (I’m not counting Ana’s rifle buff cuz it didn’t change shit) while DPS heroes are in a power creep state.

If this trend continues, healers will do little more than heal in fights.
