People have now literally spend more arguing about how much space my image takes up than they have commenting on the image.

I mean, hell, I'm good with no matter what, but it is a bit of a waste.

I guess it's inevitable at this point that at least half your threads will be instantly derailed by some shit-stirrer or other. If they weren't complaining that you posted an image on a community that revolves around posting images, they'd be complaining that Case hadn't banned you yet or whatever. :\

Not to mention if you want to go full waifu harem orcs are familiar with the concept. You could have a shield wife, forge wife, etc. and so long as you were sufficiently manly they'd be totally cool with it. At least if we're talking about cute TES orcs. Other orcs are maybe less into sharing.

Not a negative thing on 4chan maybe, but it may well be negative elsewhere. This isn't 4chan. You can't just come onto a place that isn't 4chan, post like it's 4chan, and expect everyone to immediately conform to 4chan culture.

But they have! That's the thing. The derailing, the arguing about every little thing as long as it's not connected to the OP's comment, the (Genteel) insults. The endless opportunities to argue with people you don't know about fucking everything... Y'all don't seem to get it. Some of the things I love 4chan for are found in abundance here.

Plus here, I can identify the people I like, where as 4chan is totally anonymous, so I can also have friends and people I like.

You guys don't have as much waifu shit, but I'm working on it.

YOU don't get it. There might be a few similarities, but the culture isn't the same. Obviously. Otherwise you guys wouldn't be here complaining that people don't comment on your threads in the way that you want, or complaing that people "don't get" that certain aspects of 4chan culture aren't negative.

Basically, your issues are that we're not commenting like 4channers and that people here DO see those aspects of 4chan culture as negative. Just because it's not negative in one place, doesn't mean it's not negative anywhere.

Hyperbole isn't actually all that unique. You've probably seen and ignored it hundreds of times, when it wasn't used in a complaint against you.

Yes, sometimes people use hyperbole.

It's something I've actually made an effort to excise from my own speech because of the section of the population that will take it literally (at least when it's something they disagree with) and act I was being totally serious.

Hey, I commented on what an overreaction it was. They backed the use of the word. Twice.

I wouldn't say it's that much of an overreaction, but I wouldn't have taken it seriously. Obviously, they meant that they find your big images annoying.

But that's why I try very hard to avoid hyperbole now. One slip-up, and I've had a massive overreaction, even if I was being pretty calm when I spoke.

But it's basically how people argue online these days. Just accuse the person you disagree with of overreaction or being emotional. So if you want to express disagreement you have to be very careful with your wording.
