Nah I've seen a lot of women who think it's really bizarre. i read the story, and while I'm not a woman I've been sexually assaulted and raped several times. At no point did the story cross over into what I what I would consider either, bc she literally at any point could have called the encounter off, told him she didn't like x thing, etc. but she didn't. And when she did speak up and tell him to slow things down, he did.

I mean her complaint is basically "he was pushy and inconsiderate (that's a fair complaint, but that doesn't make it assault) and he didn't read my mind."

I think that very few people said that it was rape, though, or even sexual assault. I don't think that's really what the argument was at any point.

I've seen a surprising number calling it assault, actually. Because he was too pushy, I guess.

I think it's an interesting story and worth talking about in the "people should be more considerate lovers" sense. But not so much in the #metoo sense, which is how a lot of people took it.

Sure, I can agree with that.

The article framed it as sexual assault.

Grace says her friends helped her grapple with the aftermath of her night with Ansari. “It took a really long time for me to validate this as sexual assault,” she told us. “I was debating if this was an awkward sexual experience or sexual assault. And that’s why I confronted so many of my friends and listened to what they had to say, because I wanted validation that it was actually bad.”

Well, no, Grace framed it as sexual assault, and really only in those lines. I don't think the discourse has necessarily centered around that.

So you're saying it's not linked to the #metoo movement?

Or that the #metoo movement goes beyond sexual assault?

(Genuine questions, as I've only read the article and a few related opinion pieces.)
