Everything everyone above me has already said, and also:

- the whole "soft" and "smol" thing. Which, in one of my main fandoms, has seemingly lost all meaning tbh. To the point where it mostly feels like you're just trying to make the fact that you like a character/ship and draw art of them seem socially acceptable to the "all queer women should be soft pure wholesome butterflies" crowd. Which is a frankly ridiculous and a bit offensive POV that I hope ends soon.

Also I can't express my wtf enough at the fact that I've seen people talk about how "smol" a character played by an actress who is five foot six is. I'M that height. I'm taller than at least 75% of other women I meet. It's okay to like someone even if they're not "smol", fandom.

My fandom is very limited, but when I see "smol" I sort of assume they are talking about a teenage boy (anime or otherwise) who they probably actually feel some attraction to but go overboard to disguise it as maternal feelings (i.e. "my smol son")

Ahaha, wow, yeah, that's weird indeed. I'm that height as well and I sure as hell wouldn't call myself "smol" by any stretch. I stick out like a sore thumb in my family-I'm taller than both my mom and my sister, as well as my aunts and many of my female cousins :p.

The places where I've seen "smol" used (mainly slash fandoms), it hasn't had anything to do with the character's physical size. Back a year or two ago there were quite a few people calling Sherlock smol, and he's 6 feet tall.

Whenever I see someone use "smol" to describe a character, I basically just presume they mean "vulnerable" or "woobie."
