The state of it all is pathetic. There's this show on Jetix called Oban Star Racers with a female protagonist. There's still some gender stereotyping and all, but she's a really strong character. Did I mention that it's an action sci-fi racing series? The guy who made it had to go to like ten different companies to find one who'd greenlight it because no one would take the chance on a girl action hero.

I don't really get it. If (making an assumption here) you hated the last two books, why not just pretend they don't exist and continue to like the first five books? I do the same sort of thing with the Anita Blake series.

I honestly never had a problem telling! He's pretty, sure, but his build didn't match up to how Togashi's girls tend to be drawn at all, IMO.

Right now, I'm growling over someone in the Dude Looks Like a Lady section that added Mrs. Doubtfire to the list. *hair pull* That trope is about male characters who naturally look/act so feminine that other characters think they're female. They're not men actively disguising themselves as women. Not the same thing.

116. The problem with Wikis are that anyone can edit them, and it's especially bad in a laid-back one like TVTropes. Some of the articles make excellent points, but some of them make me want to PUNCH THE COMPUTER.

129. That's why Disney also distributes Miyazaki's films. They balance each other out! Though seriously, I never noticed it before. I hope they do start making movies with female protagonists.

162. I like Nomura's art okay. I always figured the "belts and zippers" arguement was that he puts A LOT of them on NEARLY EVERY CHARACTER. He seemed to be moving away from this some in TWEWY, though. The oufits were much more varied. Hopefully he'll keep up with that.

Even though I don't ship it, I can see Gibbs/Kate, but for the life of me I can't see Gibbs/Tony. It just doesn't make any sense to me why a good majority of the fandom ships this pairing. It baffles me something awful. :/

Mrs. Incredible rocked but sometimes I wonder about her adventures as ElastiGirl, pre Mr. Incredible.

The problem with Disney is that their female leads are almost always princesses. And some of these princesses are just badass, like Mulan and Jasmine, but some of them exist only to find their man. Most Disney movies are usually essentially romantic fantasy, emphasis on the Romance. Pixar tends to be a bit more broad in its appeal and genre choice, but the only time I can even think of a female main character of theirs who was really strong is Jessie from Toy Story... and she was really second fiddle, although frankly when you have a sequel that comes with the territory.

I'm hearing great things about Eve in Wall*E though. Almost makes me want to see it.
