I still say (from the last time this topic was brought up months ago), that Zombies don't count as a race, since you know, they are in actuality, reanimated corpses.

I CAN'T HELP IT! Elves remind me of two things Ethereal Too Perfect, Too Pretty Beings OR Short Squat Creatures That Help You Build Things. Elves need a makeover.

I was going to say elves too. They're just too perfect and there's barely any variety. I dislike how they're portrayed as so much better than everyone else.

Dwarves, I like them being there in-universe but I'm not the biggest fan of their cultures and stuff. Tolkien is where I find them most interesting tbh while every other fantasy setting is a solid meh.

I don't like dwarves because Iron Forge was too confusing to get around in WoW as Horde.

Hahaha, man for me I can't fucking find anything in Orgrimmar, that place is a confusing maze, at least in Ironforge the AH and the bank are right opposite one another.

Reminds me of how much I hated the dwarven politics main quest in Dragon Age Origins plus the related "getting around the Deep Roads" bullshit.

I feel like Tolkien at least fleshes out dwarves and gives different dwarves different personalities. Other authors seem to write them all the same and we never really get to see much of their culture.

Actually, one of the few things I liked about the Inheritance Cycle was the dwarves.

There's also just how much there is for Dwarves in his stuff, I mean you can say that about a lot of Tolkien races and cultures tbh, but because his world-building is so huge it's easier for me to like them more in his setting.

There's just more to them y'know?

The gnomes on Shannara look like prolapsed dog butts. Points for going a unique direction, I guess?

The Batarians from Mass Effect. I feel like they were just shoehorned in to be a token scary-looking and universally nasty 'villain' species. Or maybe I just missed some lore somewhere. :( It's been a while.

Ooh, yeah, this is a good one. It was sort of a shame, because pretty much all of the other races were made with such thoughtful design. I guess every universe needs its cockroaches, but I would have liked to have seen more from them. Why not have a race with diverse standings like every other one, and a few bad people within them?

Cockroaches is such a perfect term for them. They're really just there to be two-dimensional sidequest villains and battle fodder. :( Like you say, when the other races had so much thought and lore put into them, the Batarians really stuck out like a sore thumb.

The Batarians always reminded me of the four-eyed bottle opener from the American edition of Pink Floyd's Relics, which was a trippy album with a binaural versions of Interstellar Overdrive and Bike.

This is OT, but may I ask, what the heck is your icon? I have literally been trying to figure it out for weeks (months?). I see a batman mask, and... I don't know... like a stubbly mass of something with stubble? IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.

I'll kinda agree with Jemisin that Orcs and their spin-offs have some problematic coding behind them.

Every single cutesy small animal-based race, especially in JRPGs. The are always way too saccharine for me.
