About 50/50. I like both same-gender ensemble casts and I also have a terrible, terrible love for harem and reverse harem stories.

Not as gay as I'd like, but them's the breaks because my tastes are weird. It's usually either media with good queer representation, or media I'm actually interested in for plot reasons.

One of my favorite authors tends to have very interesting queer characters, but they also have a tendency to die, so. Though the main character of one of his series' is bi, and she lives! ...really, it's more that he writes stories wherein large amounts of characters with established personalities die.

TV & Film: Not really. There is an occasional gay character, but I don't particularly pay attention to them.

Literature: Not at all.

Honestly, even though probably most of my main ships are slash, most of my fandoms are not very gay at all. I just find the chemistry and ship away, ignoring canon.

When it comes to shows and movies, not very. Books and manga are different. A good number of the books I read last year featured LGBT characters.

Computer woes

My computer force restarted to install updates, and lo and behold, now freezes at startup. Can't get past the start screen, can't click on anything to login. I've tried restarting several times, but no change. I have no idea what to do even after extensive googling. At what point dio you say fuck it, and bring it to a computer repair shop? So bummed..

Does attraction to a character influence how you write about a ship?

I have a pairing that I'm really into right now and that I've written quite a bit for. I'm fine writing it from the female half's perspective, but I have a lot of trouble writing it from the male half's perspective, and the thought of writing smut from his POV makes me downright uncomfortable.

I've recently realized that this is because I'm attracted to her but not to him. When I'm writing from her POV, I can kind of dissociate and be like, "this how she sees him. This is how she feels about him." When I'm writing from her POV, I can't quite be sure of that separation, and there's always a part of me, even if it's not totally conscious in that moment, that's thinking, "what if this is just me being pervy and expressing my own silly crush?" There's an element of, "this is too personal" and also an element of, "am I objectifying this character?"

Has anyone else experienced this?
