I miss when you could just enjoy a subtext pairing for what it was, without half the fandom ready to rip the writers' heads off, if it doesn't become canon. Especially in femslash fandoms. Just like... chill and fill A03 with porn, like the old days.

(I say this AS a queer woman, btw - who wants calm fandoms with loads of filthy content. Not wanky asshole fandoms.)

As a bi girl myself, I agree!!!

I miss the days I could write filthy fic without getting/seeing hate about how "why can't people be friends" or being accused of "falling for the bait." :/

"Whyyyyyyyy can't two men just be friends without icky slashers getting gay cooties all over them" goes back a long time, though. I've been seeing that since the late 90s.
