Some states are REALLY fucky with the requirements.

Like I had an online friend who lived in... I think MS or AL but idr anymore, somewhere deep south at any rate.... but her state used to have a thing where you couldn't be on food stamps if you made more than some ridiculously low amount (like $5k a year or something), but you couldn't be on medicaid if you didn't also qualify for food stamps. (Unless you were pregnant or disabled.)

And during the great recession I tried getting on food stamps and I couldn't, bc I'd been unemployed for more than six months. To qualify I would have had to spend some sort of bullshit state-mandated five hours per day at this govt center job-hunting, and then provide proof that I'd been sending out apps and getting interviews and shit. Which, obv I couldn't afford to drive 60mi every fucking day so I just didn't eat.

All that said, it's worth it to look more closely at what options are available.

Yeah but saying that all child rapists can and should be redeemed isn't the right answer either. Really, even by your standards, we should be focusing on child victims, giving them resources, attention, and sympathy. Fostering a culture that protects children. I do believe there is a point where people cross a line into irredeemable. Even if Mark Salling was abused, he crossed it. We should focus on helping child victims, not their abusers.

I think it's okay for this guy to commit suicide. I think it's okay for ANYONE to commit suicide. It's a last resort measure for people who can't see any way out, or don't think they have the strength to continue on until "it (maybe) gets better." I don't do it bc I'm a bleeding heart who doesn't want to traumatize other people with my horrible corpse, but ultimately it's a personal choice.

But you know what's super shitty? Acting like Mark the Molester offing himself is some huge fucking tragedy because it was a suicide, and that we all need to tip-toe around it lest the people who self-identify too strongly with a fucking pedophile wind up feeling worse about themselves.

Why are you assuming that suicidal people will make the huge, tremendous leap of thinking that people who are glad a pedophile killed himself would also be glad a regular non-pedo killed themselves? Because I think that's a stretch. Like I said, I've been suicidal for years and I've never once heard about some fucking freakshow of a person killing themselves and seen the positive response and thought "gee whiz people are so glad that this horrible monster is dead, they must want me dead too~!"

I bet I get blamed for this one.

For the record the changes to her character and the game play are the reasons why I can't stand the new version. She used to be a bad ass, now she's a rag doll in a torture porn simulator. She used to grunt with exertion, now she whimpers and gasps. She used to solve puzzles, now she only solves the puzzle of "Spot the bright light we have put to mark the exist point".

Don't get me wrong, I like the big bosom, is is very much something that appeals to me physically, and I am sad to have lost it on a character I love, but I really am more sad to lose the character. There are lots of smaller chested characters I love, but there are very few whimpering characters I love.

That's what I was thinking too. It's a frame up!

I do swear tho, quite proficiently, and I don't ID as a feminist. I used to, then I found that what IDing as a feminist mean was constant arguments with other feminists about whether I'm feminist enough, and if I have any right to use the label in the fist place, and why I'm as a default less worthy than anyone else in the feminist room. Found it wasn't helping anyone. I hold with their basic ideas, as written in the dictionary, I disagree with a whole load of those extraneous stuff that's got tacked on so I find it simpler to just use a eschew the label all together.

Personally, I know I'm horny when I find myself wanting to think about sex, and then when I do think about sex, my body and my brain both respond with arousal. My brain goes, "Fuck that's hot, think about it some more," and my body gets turned on. And it's kind of a feedback loop; my brain being turned on gets my body turned on, and then my body being turned on makes my brain more turned on, and so on.

OH MY GOD this is one of my biggest pet peeves in all of fandom. There were some tremendously awful ones with Spike and BTVS too back in the day, as I recall.
