(Anonymous) 2018-02-03 03:08 am (UTC)(link)I don't like seeing kids get hurt either, though with bad writing/acting kids getting hurt or dying in fiction often comes across a bit cheesy more than anything. But point is, people know kids getting hurt/killed is a bad thing and isn't funny. When animals die on screen, it's often used as comic relief or cheap drama, and I'm not always clear that there's an overwhelming sense of "this is a sad and horrible thing". Not everyone gives a shit about animals while they are obligated to give a shit about humans. To me, that's the difference.
