/cgl/ is nuts, bro.

honestly the blatant misogyny of /cgl/ isn't nearly as bad as the really insidious mindset they promote. The whole "homg that bitch is 1 point above her ideal BMI she is a LANDWHALE OMG LIKE MAN THE HARPOONS GRRRLS!!!" and the weird fucking beauty culture of like... spending an hour a day on your skin care routine. (Not, like, personal grooming in general, just washing your face with thirty different mega $$$$ products.) And everyone must have circle lenses, everyone must have a thigh gap, etc.

And it's always been bad but since KPop became The Thing and the Korean Beauty trends hit it's just soooo much worse.

Isn't cleaning your face with too many different products really fucking bad for it?

I think so? Like, my thought reading all that skincare shit is that maybe they wouldn't need to spend so long and use so many fucking products if they stopped fucking up their skin by washing it too much with too many products.

Cleaning your face too much, or with harsh cleansers is bad, yes. You should clean your face as gently as possible and only when you need to.

However, there are particular skin care ingredients that are proven to be good for your skin (e.g. retinoids, peptides, antioxidants, niacinimide, and things that provide SPF). These particular sorts of ingredients - when delivered in a stable formula without other drying or irritating ingredient - are genuinely good for your skin. And if you have good, non-irritating products, there's no reason you can't layer a retinoid, a serum, and an all purpose moisturizer.

Not on /cgl/ though and I don't even know what it is.

If I google “circle lenses,” will I be horrified? Also as a fat girl I never got the thigh gap thing. Literally the only reason I can think of for wanting one is to prevent thigh chafing for people who have issues with that, and I don’t. And I wash my face when I shower or if I’ve got something on my face, and my skin is clear 99% of the time, unlike when I used a ton of skincare products and had Pizza McLandmine face. Even then I couldn’t imagine spending an hour on skincare. What a weird hobby.

Circle lenses are just a kind of contact. They make your irises look bigger.

People become obsessed with thigh gaps because they view them as a preeminent benchmark of thinness.
