honestly the blatant misogyny of /cgl/ isn't nearly as bad as the really insidious mindset they promote. The whole "homg that bitch is 1 point above her ideal BMI she is a LANDWHALE OMG LIKE MAN THE HARPOONS GRRRLS!!!" and the weird fucking beauty culture of like... spending an hour a day on your skin care routine. (Not, like, personal grooming in general, just washing your face with thirty different mega $$$$ products.) And everyone must have circle lenses, everyone must have a thigh gap, etc.
And it's always been bad but since KPop became The Thing and the Korean Beauty trends hit it's just soooo much worse.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 09:08 am (UTC)(link)However, there are particular skin care ingredients that are proven to be good for your skin (e.g. retinoids, peptides, antioxidants, niacinimide, and things that provide SPF). These particular sorts of ingredients - when delivered in a stable formula without other drying or irritating ingredient - are genuinely good for your skin. And if you have good, non-irritating products, there's no reason you can't layer a retinoid, a serum, and an all purpose moisturizer.
Not on /cgl/ though and I don't even know what it is.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 12:56 am (UTC)(link)People become obsessed with thigh gaps because they view them as a preeminent benchmark of thinness.
