Removing soda stains?

So, being me, I managed to ruin the one good thing that has happened to me on the job front. I went to the local law library to do the research for the local attorney. I had the case files in my tote because they didn't fit in my briefcase. I had my lunch in the same back. I wasn't expecting a new, unopened soda bottle to leak.

I've got the pages laid out all over the house to dry. But I'm worried some of them might end up stained. Is there anything I can do about that?

Not really? If you've got access to a good scanner/photocopier, then once they're dry you can try making copies and hope that the discoloration is light enough to not get picked up by the copier. Of course, if they've got original signatures, seals, etc. on them, that's not an option.

Sadly, I don't think so. Even if you'd just spilled plain water, it's going to wrinkle up the paper as it dries. :(

As long as the staining/wrinkling doesn't render the documents illegible, you'll be okay. I doubt this is the first time someone's spilled their drink on the case files. Maybe the first time the drink was just soda -- most of the lawyers I know pickle their livers regularly.

honestly the blatant misogyny of /cgl/ isn't nearly as bad as the really insidious mindset they promote. The whole "homg that bitch is 1 point above her ideal BMI she is a LANDWHALE OMG LIKE MAN THE HARPOONS GRRRLS!!!" and the weird fucking beauty culture of like... spending an hour a day on your skin care routine. (Not, like, personal grooming in general, just washing your face with thirty different mega $$$$ products.) And everyone must have circle lenses, everyone must have a thigh gap, etc.

And it's always been bad but since KPop became The Thing and the Korean Beauty trends hit it's just soooo much worse.

If you're a liberal, are there any conservative fictional characters or real life actors or whatever that you like? If you're a conservative, are there any liberal ones you like?

Unless a show is political, I can't say I've ever thought about what political party my favorite characters would be.

But I guess, Ron Swanson is conservative and I love him.

For actors, I try to avoid that knowledge.

What about the alternative. I think I might count as left by my own standards, but by current norms it feels like I'm a classified as a right winger. So with that in mind, any right wing people who like big old lefties?

For me, I always liked Ollie Queen.

I'm interested in characters who are military/mercenary/survivalist/off-grid types with lots of weapons and maybe some paranoia. That's a lot of things people associate with far-right political leanings.

I support very strict gun control laws. I just like watching fictional things go boom sometimes.

I like Jayne from Firefly, but I hear the actor has some strong views.

So, I learned today that I know someone who is into monsters and stuff, and when I mentioned "The Wolfman Lawrence Talbot" they looked at me blank.

Turns out they know about werewolves and junk, but not the wolfman. Like not even just that they don't know the name Talbot, they don't know about THE WOLFMAN.

That's odd, right?

Like, not as bad as being:

but pretty close to that level of "HOW?!", right?

How detailed do you get when tagging smut?

So I follow a blog that discusses AO3 norms and trends, and some recent entries were about how people tag smut.

I guess there's an expectation out there that all of the various acts be tagged individually, just in case an act isn't someone's cup of tea. So, like, if it's a het pairing and the woman is on top at some point, you should tag for that. If there's any oral, you should tag for that. If there's doggy style, you should tag for that. If it happens outside of the bedroom, you should tag for that. etc etc etc.

I have two reactions to this: 1) this seems like overkill, and 2) what if I've upset someone with my fic? The only tags I've used are "smut," "fluff and smut," "explicit sex," "porn without plot," and "porn with feelings." I always figured those were sufficient, especially since individual acts are never the focus of my writing (I'm all about the emotional side of things), but now I'm wondering.

How do you guys go about tagging your smutty fics? What are the norms in your fandoms? Have you ever had any blowback due to not being descriptive enough with your tags?
