Media with "good guy" reptiles?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-06 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
What are some good pieces of media with reptiles (especially snakes, lizards, and/or crocodilians) in heroic roles rather than their traditional role as villains?

Mass Effect has several good guy reptile like creatures. Thane in particular is coming to mind.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time has the fish race Zora. They are all nice in OoT.

Rango has a lot of good reptiles (including the titular character).

Kung Fu Panda has Viper who is a good guy.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something obvious....

Louis the alligator in Disney's The Princess and the Frog? Sort of?

The 'hydras,' or snake-girls, in the webcomic Modest Medusa are creepy, but not generally evil. The biggest 'heroic' characters so far seem to be some humans and some renegade vampires. Most of the hydras we see are little kids. But apparently there have been significant heroic hydras in the past.

Sensor in 'reboot'-era Legion of Superheroes comics was an alien snake.

Suikoden III features the Lizard Clan, which while aggressive compared to the Chishan pacifists and the Ducks, are one of the Six Clans of the Grasslands and 4 Lizards are among the Stars of Destiny you recruit to your side. Also Peggi is the most hilarious blacksmith ever.

/major Lizard clan fan

Oh, hell yes. Plus the bath conversations where the lizards get annoyed with how people have difficulty telling them apart.

Crocs get a bad rap. Snakes are at least allowed to be spooky and elegant.

I think tortoises and turtles are more often shown as heroic in English-language works. Wasn't there a good guy turtle in a Pixar movie? Maybe?

There are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, of course.

The alien in Enemy Mine is sort of reptilian-looking.

There should be more good-guy lizards. I don't know why I'm drawing a blank.

There are no good guys in Warhammer Fantasy as far as I can tell, but I used to think that if I ever took it up I'd play the Lizardmen.
