Oh god, I fear for when our generation hits 50+. Past generations usually have feuds or bitter feelings over actual world wars. Us? VIDEO GAME PAIRINGS. If this fandom gets anymore batshit, I swear the Lifestream is going to will itself into existence JUST to purge us from the planet. XD

Insane squeeing over something you love > bashing. I always try to see both sides of an argument myself, because if you forget your manners regarding someone you engage in a debate, you've already lost. More importantly, fictional preferences are nothing to fight over. Ever.

When it comes to FFVII fandom...I've been Tifa. It was miserable. I've progressed towards being more like Aerith in terms of personality (finally got over the severe introversion), and I'm probably living the high point of my life right now. Both girls are easy to relate to, both are likable, and by dammit, both are awesome in their own ways and shouldn't be pitted against each other.

Yeah, I stopped watching before Sunday, I heard what it was about and I knew right there I was done with that show.

They were idiots, too.

Seriously. :/ Though I have to admit, I do bash some ships (in other fandoms though; I've more or less distanced myself from this one, except to find good little things every now and then). D: It's a bad habit, but I admit to it! That's... progress, I think? :|

They shouldn't! Besides, they were good friends. I doubt in the end they were going to let something as petty as a dude with identity issues get in the way of their friendship. XD

I try to refrain from ship bashing in all fandoms, but when some are just written so. Fucking. BADLY (see: Avatar, Harry Potter, etc.)--well, then I'm bashing the way things were written, which can easily be seen as ship-bashing. So you're not alone. D:

This is something rabid LT debaters seem to forget: Aerith and Tifa were friends. GOOD FRIENDS. They teased Cloud together! They had fun and giggled and had a great time while together--in fact, if Aerith had been in Nibelheim as a child, they (Cloud, Aerith and Tifa) probably all would have been best friends, and Cloud wouldn't have such painfully tender memories of being ignored by Tifa and her group. But then that'd take away from Cloud's struggle with his identity later, hence there goes a good chunk of the plot. Woe. D:

I actually like Mary because OT3 for the win. But yes, fandom. NOW PLS.

*shrugs* To each their own. Personally, I wasn't moved much by the Ninth Doctor. I got into the show because some of my friends begged me to watch it so they'd have someone to squee with. I watched the first series for that, and because watching the episodes together was something I could do with my mother.

The overall show was right up my aisle - I liked the stories, generally - but I never found the Doctor that interesting a character. If Eccleston had stayed on, I don't know if I would have kept watching for long. I won't say he was boring, but he just didn't snag me much. I was more thrilled by the Daleks than Nine or Rose.

It wasn't until I saw Tennant that I decided to keep watching. And yes, this initially had a lot to do with finding him HOT LIKE BURNING - I won't pretend otherwise - but his performance over time is what's made the Doctor a truly compelling character to me, with emotional depth that I hadn't paid attention to before. Tennant's enthusiasm and love for the character helps a lot.

Ten has made me interested in Classic Who, and I can now retroactively find Nine that much more interesting. So no, I don't especially want him to go yet; but it'll happen when it happens. (Although anyone who was REALLY worried about it at the end of, "Stolen Earth," must have locked themselves in their rooms all year to avoid spoilers.)

That said, I do feel for Nine fans, having only gotten one series with him. I'd be pretty bummed by that, were it me. Boo to actors' schedules getting in the way. *Donna!angst*

Yup, me too! I stayed up till four in the morning this past Fourth and it was glorious. :D

114. It being not canon =/= it being OOC. It's possible to have two characters who NEVER interact in canon, throw them together in a story, keep their personalities intact, and have it work. Sorry, but this is true. And also, yanno, uh, just because people don't have a REASON to ship two characters? Doesn't mean they shouldn't. They enjoy it. THAT IS NOT A BIG DEAL. If you don't like the pairing, if you don't think it makes sense, if you think it could never work, then that's fine- don't read fics or look at fanart for that pairing.

I ship some characters that hardly ever interact, too, just because I like the idea of it. THIS IS FANDOM: if I am enjoying myself and not being a douche to other people, I AM NOT DOING IT WRONG. Sheesh.

117. I'm pro-Tennant and severely pro-Eccleston. But really, if you think Ten doesn't take anything seriously, I'd be forced to conclude you don't actually pay attention to the episodes. Yes, I admit he is childish- I like that, for Ten. He's not the BEST Doctor- that's reserved for Tom Baker, by far- but part of the point of Doctor Who is that each incarnation is different. This one is very emotional, loves everything wildly, can get very upset and angry, is pretty damn manic, etc. I kind of prefer Nine myself, but I think Ten truly has his place, and I too look forward to Eleven. :>
