Well I guess I can see where you're coming from but honestly nothings stopping you from ignoring the bit the author said, and finding like minded people to post to.

I have a real problem with "[author] needs to shut up and quit tweeting about their own work".

If people try to make you accept it they're being shitty and should stop and no one can tell you to stop. but similarly no one should tell the author to shut up about their own work.
