I know lots of people in RL who watch the show, it's pretty big here, and everytime the show came up in conversations the reactions to the latest season were overwhelming positive. Everyone was watching it and enjoying it. But, sure, keep telling yourself that the season was oh so terrible and people hated it so much.

Anons upthread are being disingenuous. The disappointment was 99.9% due to no canon Johnlock.

I'm not a Johnlock shipper and I found the fourth season to be a weird trainwreck. Though to be fair, I felt that way about season three as well. There is PLENTY to be disappointed about besides the lack of canon Johnlock, LOL...

I haaaaaated S4 myself (and S3 for that matter), but yeah, I've heard a lot more people IRL praising it than trashing it, too.

Most of S4 was, like, James Bond the TV Show, topped with a crazy budget so production value was through the roof. I can see a lot of casual viewers who're not necessarily into Sherlock Holmes enjoying these flashy, action-packed, mind-screwy episodes. But since it's supposed to be Sherlock and not Bond, it is not a good series.
