Neat? Why should this movie make you excited if the others didn't?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Race, obvi.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. There's virtually no other reason for anyone to get excited about the next installment of an internationally popular juggernaut franchise other than race. That's why nobody's going to see Infinity Wars... not enough POCs.

NAYRT

The question that was asked was "what would make you excited for this if the others didn't"

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt - I think you're missing the sarcasm in ayrt's reply.

NAYRT
No, it's definitely sarcasm, it's just wholly unwarranted.

Kinda yeah.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be the new Jessica Jones. Remember all the shit around Jessica Jones? "It's such an important series, you need to watch it if you want to support wahman". I think we're about to see that play out again.

Then again, I have in fact been told directly that this movie is a black movie, I have no right to see it, and I need to respect that this movie is a none white space. I'm tempted to go "Fuck it, fine, I won't pay good money to watch it" but that would be petty.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-08 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I can get that, OP. I'm only a casual watcher of the Marvel movies anyway, and Age of Ultron seemed like such a mess.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-08 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I kind of agree?

Really feel like I need to spend some time with the reviews, because it looks really cool and I think I'd enjoy it a lot if it was just a random action movie. but I am at this point just completely unwilling to spend any more time at all engaging with the details of metaplot or pretending that I give a shit about the Marvel universe. Going to have to play it by ear.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-08 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, i got as far as gotg before utterly running out of steam on the mcu

black panther is the EIGHTEENTH film, dammit - and that's without even getting started on the tv series

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
18 movies over the course of 10 years

it's a lot

(Anonymous) 2018-02-08 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I was meh about CW and whatever the Thanos one is (is that even out yet?) but I'm in BP all the way for the Dora Milaje and Chadwick Boseman eye candy, because they have buckets of charisma and sizzle.

(If there's actually a plot I might not even notice.)

I’m so glad I didn’t bother watching Age of Ultron. It sounded like a heaping pile of blech. And I’m looking forward to Black Panther.

From the buzz I hear online, it's a really good movie, but I can understand being drained from all the other movies and there big mess of subplots and too many characters

I'm looking forward to it because I loved T'Challa in Civil War and want to see more of him and his home(and how they've adapted Wakanda from the comics), but there's been a lot of MCU stuff so I can really understand people getting burned out.

I myself don't have quite the same level of excitement towards the movies as I did at the beginning of this ride but I still very much enjoy them.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I was feeling down on Marvel after AOU too. But Guardians 2 and Thor 3 got me excited again. And the Black Panther trailers make this movie look like it will be amazing.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I get it. I took a long break from the MCU after seeing AoU, but I just recently caught up on all the Phase 3 movies and now I'm totally back in. But yeah, for a long while there I wasn't sure whether I'd ever get back into it.

And now I'm back just in time for Infinity War to probably kill off all my favorites. *facepalm*

[personal profile] cbrachyrhynchos 2018-02-09 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'm probably going to wait for reviews. T'Challa was the only character in Civil War outside of the bad guy who didn't act like a complete idiot, so there's that. But it is yet another Marvel movie.

Alright.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
I pick and choose which ones I watch and I've watched 8 and probably will watch this one. I guess there are some completists out there that have watched all of the movies and TV series, but I don't think that's a goal for most people.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I hear it’s a Marvel budget behind a completely different kind of movie. Basically bc the ones in charge hired all fresh. I’m looking forward to it and not just bc of my Chadwick Boseman crush or to see practically an all Black cast.

Absolutely everything I'm reading about this movie says it is kicking ass and taking names, and i cannot *wait* to see it.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-09 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I feel so guilty that I have no desire to see Black Panther. The character was just so boring in Civil War.

I'm fucking stoked for BP, and I cannot wait for Infinity War. I love how everything is connected, and how it's all leading up to something huge.

I. cannot. wait.
