I did feel certain aspects were kind of rushed, like they weren't sure how it was going to do and just sort of... put everything on fastforward exposition wise so that it was mostly tied up in case they didn't get to go forward with the future films?

But I still enjoyed it immensely. I was kind of meh on Tina/Tina's attitude the first time I saw it, but the more I watch it the more I like her, and I love Newt and Queenie and Jacob.

I just wish it had slowed down a little.

I was never interested, Johnny Depp's presence just makes me less interested. I did buy the blu-ray because it was $6 during Black Friday.

Wat.

Why would you buy a movie you have no interest in?

It was cheap, I can't resist blu-rays under $10.

No comment on Johnny Depp, but I was pretty disappointed in it, too. It just... didn't feel very smart. The dialogue was off, the two leads were bland. The pink lady and the muggle were fun, but as side characters, they alone couldn't carry it. I didn't find the lead as quirky and entertaining as I thought I would, and for some reason, the female lead was kind of bleh. And the plot itself just didn't end up being particularly enchanting, which is a pity, because I was so excited about the concept of putting magic in that era. I think something just missed with the magic.

It felt a bit like they were desperate to put it out when they did - I feel like a few more passes at the screenplay, and a few changes to JKR's... questionable editorial decisions, and it might've been a little more weighty.

You're not alone. It's very hard to actually find fans in this fandom.

Johnny Depp was just one small problem in a movie full of them.

But at least we had Colin Farrell for a little while.

For one brief shining moment, there was Colin Farrell. <3 But that makes the subsequent loss even more bitter. I was so sad when I realized he'd be replaced with Depp. Probably not the reaction the film makers were hoping for. But Colin was perfect!

I thought it was a potentially interesting movie with really bad special effects, but maybe because I watched it on HBO in a hotel room? Anyway, people don't hate Johnny Depp in my country since no one cares enough to translate his negative news over to our tabloids, and the fandom reception to the movie is still a lukewarm meh. I don't think anyone actually liked the movie lol, some didn't hate it and that's it.
