Post things you like about Star Wars, whatever they are.

The more I sit with TLJ, the more I realize how much I enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it's the best SW movie but it's probably my favorite. I love Rey and Luke doing the whole Shaolin monastery thing, I love the references to Empire, I love the themes of hope, I love the throne room fight scene, I love that Kylo Ren is a simultaneously pathetic villain and also really effective, I love everything with Poe and Holdo and Leia, I love Leia's wire-fu-in-space Force powers, I love the twist with Luke's force projection, I love all of the action scenes, I love Benicio Del Toro being a random scumbag, I just... for all its problems, I really love that movie.

Fuck yeah, McQuarrie.

I love the costume designs. Nice iconic designs that identify different the different cultural groups without ever looking as goofy as the Trek aliens.

And it got some of John Williams' best work.

And fuck yeah, McQuarrie.

I like how much I like Star Wars. I mean like.. I like my level of liking Star Wars.

I am old enough to have seen the original trilogy and been a fan before the prequels came out, but I was also young enough where I enjoyed the prequels. That may have helped me not to be shaped with any kind of original trilogy elitism. I read several of the spinoff books, and while I wasn't like a hardcore fan, I was probably above-average in how much I liked them.

Now with the new movies, I feel like I can just relax and enjoy them. I won't feel betrayed if they are bad. I'll probably still enjoy them if they are subpar, and take the bad with the good. I'm looking forward the new ones.

Now, there are other fandoms where I am that snobby elitist and so I can sympathize with the irrational feeling of something you love being "ruined". But I'm glad I'm not in that spot with Star Wars. I'm not stressed about it at all.

I love the whole connectiveness of the Star Wars universe where the comics, books, games, and movies all tie into each other. I am really loving the comics right now. I love the Clone Wars and Rebels shows. I love the Jedi, especially Obi-Wan. I love the merch. The Legos are adorable and creative.

I love when Star Wars goes batshit ridiculous. I am looking forward to the tentacle monster in the new Solo movie.
