Feast depictions and the like, which tend to be the things explicity mentioning meat, tend to have a really strong sensory vibe. And in depth depictions of specific meals tend to be sentiment-loaded in reference to the characters, like something nourishing during a journey, or something from their home. So that heartiness -> emotive -> sensual thing kinda goes hand in hand for me.
