Then...it sounds like you don't really like the show, you like its application of music.

Sure, the Netflix episodes (and I think it's just season 1) aren't as good without the original music but jumping from original quality to "shit" is huge leap, unless you don't think the show is very good to begin with.

I mean, the show /isn't/ very good to begin with, but the use of music especially in the early seasons is phenomenal. It's extremely jarring to hear the wrong song start up.

I haven't cared about SPN since sometime during Season 5, but the change in music on Netflix is very distressing to me. I wouldn't recommend that anyone watch it from there either.

It's mostly noticeable to me in The Road So Far intros at the end of the seasons, but the music is such a wonderful part of that show (sometimes way better than the show itself) that it's just not okay that music was changed.

Music is part of filming anything effectively, whether it's with original music, source music, or the decision not to use music. There are films for which replacing the soundtrack would be like somehow editing in a different actor, for me.

Though as a comment mentioned below, the last time I watched SPN on Netflix it was only the S1 music that was different, and I only remember a couple song uses that early in the show that were, well, memorable. It's so strange that that happened though since the DVDs, thankfully, had the original music.
