People would have excoriated her no matter how she handled it. I totally understand why celebrities are wishy-washy on issues like this.

Ehh. I think I'd rather be criticized for coming out and saying that I didn't want to work with Woody Allen because of the sexual abuse allegations. I mean, if it is as you say and you're going to get excoriated no matter what, I still think that's a better choice than staying silent and letting people assume my tacit approval of a sexual predator.

The exception I'd make is for struggling actors who are outgunned by people like Woody Allen in terms of influence over their careers. But Kate Winslet is definitely not in that category.
