You must hate on things like Artemis Fowl

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've ever actually searched Artemis' tag yet, so I don't know how annoying it is. If people actually tag the book character with his full name, not just 'Artemis', I probably won't see a lot of Artemis Fowl stuff.

Are you okay with non-porny anime naming their characters after gods and goddesses if the characters are supposed to be avatars of those deities?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Do you mean like modern day characters reincarnated from a god? I've never been a big fan of that trope, so I don't think I would be.

Well, be prepared to blacklist Saint Seiya when the remake comes out, because that has Athena reincarnating every 250 years to do battle with (and priotect the earth from) Hades.

There's probably a proper tag out there for people like you. Good luck finding it though.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
With the pets I know a lot of people use stuff like " ____ the cat/dog/whatever" to avoid that. For anime you can always just blacklist fandom names. But as a big Shakespeare fan I get it, certain tags are hard to navigate.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I do '____ the cat' for one of our cats. (it's not a mythological name, but it is a well-used tag and he'd stand out as being unrelated to everything else in it.)

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I have the same problem except for fictional characters that have a really common name with no last name.

Typing in the name and the series gives me all sorts of unrelated stuff because people on tumblr tend to abuse the tags and list every damn character in the tags. Not just tumblr but google and any other place with search function. Sure, I can find some relevant stuff but most of it is more general than character specific.

Not even sorry

Love,
My Cat

Who happens to be named after a famous goddess but who's self-importance demands I only uses her name as a hashtag.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
See, part of the problem is that tumblr's search system is fucked, so quite often, if a word shows up anywhere in the post, not just the tags, then it will wind up listed.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
See, I use the tumblr.com/tagged/character name url to only search by tags.

Yup. And if you use Xkit, you can follow up to 20 tags.

How do you feel about people writing about the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Or planets? Or their Greek friends?

Re: How do you feel about people writing about the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I only really care about Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology, so I haven't run into any dealing with Iraq. Planets use Roman names and I only search by their Greek names, so no problem there. The only people I've run into that have the name of a Greek god are Wiccans/Hellenistic Pagans and they were actually talking about a deity, so we're cool.

Every hear of Isis?

I get why this bothers you, but also, too bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

By way of experiment, I searched Tumblr for Quetzalcoatl. It’s about 20% the actual deity vs. 80% the creepy anime pedophile. I see the problem.

I somehow got through many years of life not knowing there is a creepy anime pedophile named Quetzalcoatl. I am somewhat disturbed.

(I did discover through tumblr that there is a porn actress named Faye Valentine, though I think she changed her name now. Not that I can blame someone for tagging pictures with their actual (stage) name.)

Hey, don't shit talk my girl Lucoa, she's awesome

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
As a fan of many fandoms, I wish people would stop tagging their pets/babies with characters names. I've blocked dozens and dozens of toddlers and animals related tags, and it's still not enough, their stupid pictures unrelated to fandom keep popping up on my dash.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I wish people wouldn't tag their creepy furry/anime porn with animal tags but you can't always get what you want so tough.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even have a tumblr or post about my pets anywhere but Freyja the chihuahua says "fuck you."

(Anonymous) 2018-02-13 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
God, as an actual pagan, fuck off with your snobbery.
