How to manage your money. That should be its own class in highschool or something, along with a class on how banks work , overdrafts , debit cards etc.

Even as a High School graduate I was like , unbelievably dumb about banks and money. That combined with manic spending got me in some trouble.

I think I was lucky because I had a banker for a father so like... at age ten he was teaching me about basic banking and trading stocks and stuff. I had my own little folder where I would follow companies I had chosen week by week to see what their stocks were doing.

Did you manage to put your knowledge into use as an adult?

I did (do?). I still go through advisors at the bank itself when it comes to setting up accounts, etc, but I find myself always well-armed with knowledge and often go prepped with what I am looking for.

Agreed! That should be a mandatory class by your second or third year (especially since by third year you're applying to colleges and you'll be smarter about taking out money for it). I also feel home eeconomics should be a mandatory semester class (basic cooking, sewing stuff up etc skills should be part everyone's knowledge base. And a little plumbing, mechanic and electric know how should be included).
