It's fine to like something based off of a work that is not itself the original. To me, the fact that there's a different version only shows that someone had preferred or imagined it differently, sometimes even better!

Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies helped me pass my exam because I couldn't recall the original. I don't recall the Keira Knightley version/didn't care. Bride and Prejudce is probably my favorite. I really enjoyed the original book. Do you!
