I get what they mean, about the pair not outshining each other. I only watch ice skating during the Olympics, but I noticed that sometimes for some pairs, often one seems a lot better than the other, or if you have experience with doing stuff in pairs (such as ballroom dancing) you can tell that one skater messed up because the other one wasn't supporting them. But the French pair in the current Olympics are really in sync. My mom and I the whole time wondered if they were dating because the chemistry and union between them while skating is just remarkable. They're really special together. It also feels like they're not trying to be perfectionists but are just having a lot of fun about skating and skating with each other, like they're just psyched to be sharing the experience of the Olympics together. It reflects in the performance.
